fancy philosophy .

i wonder if Socrates knew that his statement was profound,
"i know that i know nothing".

it never fails to intrigue me when people brag about "knowing who they are". me ? i am complex, delicate, strong, smart, pretty, ugly, dark, humble, outspoken, introverted, and numerous other adjectives that could fill volumes of books . i am proud to admit that i am not boring enough to understand myself. with all of my layers, i could never be decoded within 20 measily years.

if you still surprise yourself, you don't know yourself. events throughout life crack open rusty, emotional vaults within ourselves that we did not know existed. i never knew i had a cold, bitter bone in my body until my mother died. i never thought i could be upset with God until my mother died. i never thought i could make peace with God and have a better relationship then before ... until i did . i cannot speak for every one's dark time . hell, i cant even say that everyone has had a "dark time". sometimes the heroes perish and the villains get married & live happily ever after. all i know is that i know nothing .

time and circumstance place velvet soft layers and masks on us as humans. when girls become mothers, i would imagine they find a gentleness that has been buried due to past trials. when men become fathers ... they become killers - willing to dismantle and diminish anything that stands in the way of their little girl's happiness. we strap on our career layers on with time, our husband/wife layers on with time, drug addict layers, alcoholic layers, gold-digger-man-hating layers ... with time . you never thought you could be INSECURE until that freak accident that left 75% of your body burned. you never thought you'd date the 'good guy' until the bad boys left you heartbroken. you can't believe you were dumb enough to think that there was even two types of guys in the first place. we learn, we dig within, we discover the artifacts of our soul. if you think you know yourself, you won't until you inhale you're last breath and lock it away in the depths of your body.

i do not understand humans .
i do not understand the government .
i do not understand myself half the time .

Socrates was wrong, i KNOW one thing. it is a dehydrated, fools gold trap to believe that you've figured yourself out . all we can do as humans ... is let God unwrap the beautiful things we are.

dirty dancing with the devil .

ethical motive: motivation based on ideas of right and wrong .

i had a discussion with my friend last night about ethics .
he said, "i do some bad sh*t ... but it's not like i don't know my right from wrong . the people who get the two confused are the f*cked up ones ."

i got to thinking . why do our ethics become more difficult to stick to with older age ? somehow the lines of morale and ethics become more faded with time . we justify actions that we know are wrong & often times try to find loopholes out of doing the right thing . hmm . i don't have as much of a problem with people who do wrong and admit it than with people who pretend like what they do isnt messed up . personally, i have some really bad habits and things that i need to change about myself... but i cant lie to myself and say that it's all good . i gotta hold myself accountable .

when we were younger, the rules to ethics were simply 'play nice' . i wish we could live by the same ethical handbook . we were expected to share our recess snacks . we knew it was wrong to "tell tales" . we knew it was wrong to hurt other people's feelings . although it sounds juvenile, it's actually the most mature life guideline to live by . people rationalize their foul by finger pointing & people have become so accustomed to the triflin' ways of the world that they have no hope in bettering themselves . it seems like we just see so much lying, dying, cheating, stealing, manipulation, selfishness, deceit, and greed that it has become acceptable to society . IT'S NOT .

recent things have just made me appreciate people who know who they are, stray from the norm, and stand strong in their beliefs . shout out to those folks (:

grow up .. yea ?

whats so wrong with ambition ? self-love? passion ?
seriously .

i was sitting at my old high school's graduation yesterday at the rosebowl . and all those people , got me to thinking:

how can people really be content with doing nothing with their lives ? graduated high school three years ago and still thriving off of the new jordans & the the freshest neighborhood drama ? sitting in their filth, while watching the rest of the society proceed without them . they are arrogant enough to believe that the world will wait for them .

now, im not referring to college as the only means to success . im talking about ambition and passion . pursuing something that makes them happy . striving to make a comfortable life for yourself and/or the people you love . something has to make you wake up in the morning and it's okay if you dont know right now . However, that should be all the more means for you to get up and make moves . Going to college because all of your friends are doing it and you dont wanna be a lame is not ambition ... its "followerism" haha . Instead, do it because you want to be well-rounded and put more knowledge in your noggin . duh ;

If you love music, pursue it . If you love dancing...do that . If you wake up in the morning and decide to write something, please do . i just saw so many lames with the same jokes they had in highschool . hating on everyone else's success ...like they did in highschool . damn, be different !

different doesnt mean dressing like a clown on melrose blvd (tights are not supposed to ripped manually ... it looks trashy and like an accident). different is yourself . at the end of the day, nobody can be you . no one can have your experiences . have your passions and ambitions in the same capacity . so, different would be pursuing youre self-actualization and being a good person . we often accept the negative instead of thinking we are capable of doing better . think about it ?
