Devastation in the Midst of Silence

Recently, I find myself in lots of conversations about social change and what it means to be a young person in 2012. However, before I continue with my blog post, I need to write this disclaimer:

[If you believe that there are no unjust, sociopolitical or racial inequalities in the United States of America … then this probably won’t resonate well with you. If you cannot wrap your mind around the bigotry and disrespect that is STILL VERY MUCH happening in the U.S., then you will not take interest in the following questions:]

I am wondering: What does a 21^st century activist look like? What does she/he do to call action and compassion from the world? Should traditional methods (marches, sit-ins, protests and rallies) disintegrate? Is technology making the 21^st century activist lazy? or, more proactive? How do we sustain LONG-TERM, consistent, passionate fervor from young people? While we make such a LOUD impression on social media, is the silence (boredom with the topic) that follows just as loud and apparent?

I have some opinions, but honestly … who cares. I’d rather have you, the reader, decide for yourself. Even if you do not come up with a clear-cut opinion, isn’t it important to at least consider what you think? Hmm.

maybe someone has thee answers?

someone asked me to tackle a question on my blog. So, here it goes:

when meeting someone new, is it better to:
A) completely leave your pasts behind you (giving yourselves a clean slate & remaining ignorant to past relationships, encounters, and love experiences)

OR

B) simply let everything out... put everything on the table about past loves, exes, heartbreaks, and experiences in relationships

???

Let me play devil's advocate for a moment. One one side, the "clean slate" approach can be kind of enticing. Ladies, you agree to leave a man's past behind him and move forward ... until you see a beautiful girl leave an, "IMY <3" post on his facebook wall. it just might drive you up the walls in utter insanity. curiosity runs rapid throughout your mind. Men, you agree not to ask about your girl's past encounters, but you hear two rumors about her and now you wonder where she came from and if you can trust her. BUT YOU AGREED not to know.

On the other side of the spectrum, you could put it all out there... but what if you make assumptions about a person from the information you're told? Men, she tells you about her ex boyfriend and how he dumped her. She tells you how she was heartbroken for two years but has moved on... but they're still friends now. Do you psychologically accuse her of still being caught up on her ex? Ladies, he confesses that he has cheated in two of his past relationships ... however, now he claims that he can handle being faithful. Do you believe him? Or will that information haunt your opportunity to get to know him?

Im not claiming that there's a right or wrong answer to this proposed dilemma. I'm simply responding to a question. I do believe however, that you have to know what kind of person you are and what kind of information you can handle when dating...

7. what came first, the chicken or the egg ? [no, seriously]

8. who's really awesome-er ? kobe or lebron ?

9. what is more important ? national security or civil rights ?

10. does anyone SERIOUSLY think that gucci, souljah boy, or gudda gudda are exceptional rappers ? anyone ?

11. does real love withstand over time or can it evaporate ?

12. when is someone gunna tell Genuwine to stop dancing in his music videos ? ... finna knock his hip outta socket , smh .

13. Why does everyone sleep on Chrisette Michelle, J.Cole, Miguel and Jazmine sullivan ?

14. if Obama had a white wife, would he be president ? if he was dark skinned, would he be president ? [2 for 1 question lol]

15. who shot 2PAC & JFK ?

16. why are girls so jealous ? why waste time being intimidated ? psh . embrace your glamorous . forrrreal ;)

17. what was the right thing in "do the right thing" ? huh spike ?!

18. how awkward is it too walk into a bathroom while someone is pooping and you know they're done but they're waiting on you to leave so they wont be embarrassed when they come out of the stall ? lmfbo .

19. how is my generation gunna turn out ? will we be wrinkly and tatted, jerkin & dougie'n ? =X

20. how different would things be if we HONESTLY didn't care what people thought or had to say about us ? [dont lie, we all care to a certain extent]

21. God, can you bring some peace soon please ? im bored with the drama ...
